May 28, 2008: Fuchs Accepts Consulting Position

John Fuchs (M.S. graduate in May 2008) has accepted a position with Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton, and Wyatt, Inc., a geotechnical and materials engineering consulting firm, in Little Rock, AR.

 

April 28, 2008: Cancienne Accepts Consulting Position

Rachel Cancienne (M.S. graduate in May 2008) has accepted a position with Philip Williams and Associates in Sacramento, CA as a hydrologist/hydraulic engineer.

 

April 10, 2008: Fuchs Passes Thesis Defense

John Fuchs (M.S. student) successfully passed his oral examination and defended his thesis for his Master of Science degree. His thesis is titled “Subsurface Transport of Phosphorus in Riparian Floodplains: Tracer and Phosphorus Transport Experiments”.

 

April 7, 2008: Cancienne Passes Thesis Defense

Rachel Cancienne (M.S. student) successfully passed her oral examination and defended her thesis for her Master of Science degree. Her thesis is titled “Stability of Root Reinforced Streambanks: Numerical Modeling and Laboratory Experiments”.

 

March 12, 2008: Heeren Joins Research Group as Research Engineer

Derek Heeren (M.S. student at South Dakota State University) has accepted the position of Research Engineer. Derek is planning to start at Oklahoma State University on May 31, 2008.

 

March 3, 2008: Akay and Fox Co-Authors on Accepted Manuscript

Onur Akay (former Research Engineer) and Garey Fox are co-authors on a manuscript entitled “Numerical Investigation of Flow Dynamics during Macropore-Subsurface Drain Interactions” recently accepted for publication in the Vadose Zone Journal.

 

February 19, 2008: Chu-Agor and Fox Co-Authors on Accepted Manuscript

Maria Chu-Agor (Ph.D. student) and Garey Fox are co-authors on a manuscript entitled “Numerical Modeling of Bank Instability by Seepage Erosion Undercutting of Layered Streambanks” recently accepted for publication in ASCE’s Journal of Hydrologic Engineering.

 

January 30, 2008: Fuchs and Fox Co-Authors on Accepted Manuscript

John Fuchs (M.S. Student) and Garey Fox are co-authors on a manuscript entitled “Estimating watershed level nonagricultural pesticide use from golf courses using geospatial methods” recently accepted for publication in the Journal of the American Water Resources Association.

 

December 8, 2007: Cancienne and Fox Co-Authors on Accepted Manuscript

Rachel Cannienne (M.S. Student) and Garey Fox are co-authors on a manuscript entitled "Influence of Seepage Undercutting on the Stability of Root-Reinforced Streambanks" recently accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal, Earth Surface Processes and Landforms. Link

 

October 24, 2007: Students Win Poster Competition

John Fuchs was the co-winner of the 2007 Student Poster Contest at the 5th Annual Oklahoma Water Resources Research Institute Water Symposium. John’s poster was titled “Potential for the Subsurface Transport of Phosphorus in Riparian Floodplains: Tracer and Phosphorus Transport Experiments”. Rachel Cancienne and Maria Chu-Agor placed second for their poster on “Soil Block Experiments Investigating Three-Dimensional Seepage Erosion Phenomena”.

 

August 17, 2007: Akay Passes Dissertation Defense

Onur Akay successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation. Congratulations Dr. Akay!!!

 

August 10, 2007: Guzman Joins Research Team

Jorge Guzman joined the Department as a new graduate research assistant (Ph.D.) working on the USDA CSREES funded project, “Role of Directly Connected Macropores on Pathogen Transport to Subsurface Drainage.”

 

August 1, 2007: Akay Accepts a Consulting Position

Onur Akay has accepted a position with PBS&J in Las Vegas, NV. He will be defending his Ph.D. dissertation in Oxford, MS on August 17th.

 

June 22, 2007: Chu-Agor wins 2007 ASABE Graduate Student Paper Contest

Maria Chu-Agor (Ph.D. student) won the 2007 ASABE Graduate Student Research Award and was recognized at the 2007 Annual International Meeting in Minneapolis, MN.  Her paper, titled “Numerical Modeling of Bank Instability by Seepage Erosion”, was selected as the top Ph.D. paper after written and oral competitions.
