The Annual International Meeting of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers was held last week in Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada (jointly with our Canadian sister society). Attendees to the meeting came home with some great news to share with respect to
awards and recognitions received by BAE faculty and students:

ASAE Fellows: Drs. John Solie and Marvin Stone were 2 of the 11 individuals
inducted as new ASAE Fellows. Only about 2% of the membership earn election
to the grade of Fellow.

Kishida International Award: Dr. Ron Noyes received this award. Only 1
is given per year, and it serves to recognize "outstanding contributions to
programs of education, research, development, consultation, or technology
transfer outside the United States."

Rosentreter Standards Award: Dr. Marvin Stone received this award. Only
1 is given per year, and it serves to recognize individuals who have
contributed "exemplary leadership and service toward the generation,
maintenance, and administration of ASAE standards activities."

AGCO National Student Design Competition: This competition was won by an
OSU senior design team consisting of Kent Evatt, Kody Featherston, Candice
Johnson, and Monica Johnston. Their project was "Effective Means of Silt
Fence Installation" and their client was DitchWitch of Perry, OK.

1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition: As previously reported, our
tractor team was the overall champion of this competition, besting 25 other
teams from across the U.S. and Canada. Our "X Team" (underclassmen who
modify the previous year's tractor) also placed first in their competition,
giving OSU a clean sweep.

Student Engineer of the Year Scholarship: Candice Johnson received this
prestigious $1,000 scholarship (only 1 awarded per year). Another OSU
student, Laura Christianson, was the runner-up.

President of the Preprofessionals Council: Candi Johnson finished her
term of office as the President of the ASAE Preprofessionals Council (the
highest elected student office in the society).

Alpha Epsilon Outstanding Chapter Award: Alpha Epsilon is the honor
society for agricultural and biological engineering. Our OSU chapter was
honored as the outstanding chapter for 2004.

The above are all singular recognitions. Collectively, they certainly
speak to the high quality of our faculty and students at OSU. Hearty
congratulations to all!
