La
Donna McCowan, Environment Science Ph.D. candidate has been awarded
the Thurgood Marshall Fellowship for 1998-99. The Fellowship is
awarded to minority students in recognition of their professional
contributions, leadership, involvement and academic achievements
as a Graduate Student. LaDonna completed her MS in Biosystems
Engineering last year, with a Thesis entitled, "A Method
to Evaluate In-situ Treatment of large Pesticide concentrations
in Soil".
Ms. McCowan was also the first black-female graduate of OSU's
College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture, when she
graduated from Agriculture Engineering, (now Biosystems) with
her BS in 1977.
